In the 1990s, Kawai introduced a reissue of the iconic 1960s Teisco Spectrum 5. These reissues are known to be almost exact replicas of the original with the same split single coil pickups and 5 tone shaping switches.
Another interesting and unique feature of the Spectrum 5 is that is is switchable between mono and stereo mode. In mono mode using the mono jack, it operates as a normal guitar with the entire signal going through. But in stereo mode, each jack is used to run to 2 different amps. The mono jack then receives the signal from the 3 bass string pickups, while the stereo jack receives the signal from the 3 treble string pickups.
This guitar is in very good shape with only light playwear. There is a visible scratch near the bridge, a couple of dings on the top of the headstock and some worming on the back as well as the neck plate. But it plays well up and down the neck. All of the electronics and switches work as designed.
The neck has a smaller profile with the following measurements:
Weight is 8.1 pounds
Includes an original Teisco branded gigbag. The bag has a little wear on the inside where the headstock is (see pictures) but is fully functional.
