I have a love/hate relationship with Gretsch guitars. On one hand, nothing quite sounds like a Gretsch, especially if you are a huge Brian Setzer fan alike I am. On the other hand, the necks tend to be on the smaller side, which I find uncomfortable. The only Gretsches that have a neck to my liking have been the very pricey Custom Shop models.
However, based on the reviews I have read, the newest Brian Setzer 6120 model dubbed "Smoke" has a slightly larger neck with a soft V profile, which sounds more to my liking. I guess we'll see soon.
Arrival Update
I'm so excited that Gretsch decided to upgrade the neck on this one to a larger, soft V shape and size. It is truly a pleasure to play. As soon as I got it, I plugged it into my Deluxe Reverb with just a little slapback echo and played every Stray Cats lick I know. While I am not 1/100th of Brian Setzer, I can tell you that this one has that Stray Cats tone. I've often found the neck pickup on these to be quite muddy and almost unusable, but not this one.
I really think that Gretsch hit it out of the park with this one.
