This Tokai LS-320 from 2003 is the one that started it all for me. It was my first Japanese made guitar and I immediately fell in love. It has long been my #1.
In 2003, this was Tokai's top of the line singlecut clone. It was handmade with the best materials by their top luthiers.
The Honduras mahogany body and neck are paired with one of the most beautiful solid flame maple tops I have ever seen. And the Brazilian rosewood fretboard is highly figured.
I have made one modification, and that's to install a pair of early 1981 Maxon DryZ pickups to replace the original Seth Lovers. For years I thought the Seth Lovers were a nice match with this guitar. However, the DryZs improved the tone immensely.
I've often said I will take this one to the grave. I've been fortunate enough to play many similar guitars over the years. Some have come close, but none have been able to move this one from #1.
